WHAT IS THE POINT OF BOKASHI?

Bokashi is a natural composting method that utilises beneficial bacteria, known as Effective Micro-organisms, to ferment the food waste, and produces no unpleasant odours associated with food decay. Organic matter is broken down up to 10 times faster than traditional heap composting.

WHY IS BOKASHI BETTER THAN COMPOSTING?

Bokashi is a pre-composting method that ferments food waste in an airtight container. ... The biggest difference is that a compost pile breaks matter down with the help of oxygen-respiring aerobic bacteria. Bokashi, on the other hand, preserves scraps in a semi-decomposed state for turning into mature compost later.

IS BOKASHI GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT?

Bokashi is a method of breaking down your organic kitchen scraps. Like composting, it reduces your organic waste so you don't have to commit it to landfill. That means you're helping to save the environment in the process and like compost, you can (eventually) use it as fertiliser on your garden.

IS BOKASHI AEROBIC OR ANAEROBIC?

The bokashi bacteria, however, have both aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms. By fermenting food in anaerobic conditions we allow the bokashi microbes to take over and suppress the nasty putrefying bacteria.
